Today, there are 42 states and territories which require some form of continuing education for life and health agent to receive and maintain licenses.
The following is a brief summary of those requirements:
ARKANSAS -- 16 hours every two years for life/disability or property/casualty. If holding both licenses 20 hours will be required. Exempt if over 60, in business 15 consecutive years or non-resident.
CALIFORNIA -- 25 hours each for first four years, including 8 hours of long term care if license for same; 15 annually thereafter. 80% attendance. Carry over to next year only. Moderators same credit as students. Law expires in 1998. Only courses taken after 10/91 will count for CE credit. File 60 days prior.
COLORADO -- Moderator gets same credit as student. Approval 60 days prior to course. Fifty minutes equal one hour of CE.
DELAWARE -- 20 CE units annually for years 2-5. Ten CEUs annually thereafter. Automatic 5 CEUs annually for 25 years experience and for one or more designations. May carry over to next calendar year. May only take same course once every five years. Moderators get twice the student credit.
FLORIDA -- Agents applying for license renewal must verify completion of 28 classroom CE credits within two-year period preceding. Credits must be half life/health and half property/casualty if dual license. Moderators receive same credit as I students. Excess credits earned in one year may be carried over to next year.
GEORGIA -- Agents licensed for 1 to 20 years require 15 CE hours per year; agents over 20 years require 20 CE hours per...
