NEDERLAND - Based on sales of LitesNow's first product, it appears this lighting design company may have a bright future.
Earlier this year, LitesNow launched an innovative, do-it-yourself kit for track lighting that can be installed in 15 minutes. So far, first-year sales are double what the company originally forecast, on track for sales in excess of 50,000 units.
The LitesNow Valo Instant Track Lighting kit includes three lamps and bulbs, eight feet of track, an eight-foot cord that supplies electricity from a wall plug, and a low-voltage transformer/dimmer. As one of its distinguishing attributes, the kit features a flexible track that bends around corners. And the only tool needed for installation is a pair of scissors. The eight-foot track has an adhesive-backed strip that can be cut to length, and the power cord that supplies electricity from a wall plug can be cut as well.
"For many people, instant lighting means a lamp, and if it's not a lamp, it means a major install. It requires drills, hard-wire, money and an electrician," said LitesNow President Darrin Frisby, who works out of his home in Nederland. While typical track lighting can be cost prohibitive for consumers, the VaIo kit retails for $89.95.
LitesNow uses a post office box in Boulder for its mailing address, but executives work from their home offices. VaIo and other LitesNow products are inventions...
