OSSINING -- Former New York Yankee Lou Pinella, who is currently manning the helm of the winningest Major League baseball team this season, has entered the automobile dealership business in Westchester County.
Pinella, manager of the Cincinnati Reds, and five other partners have purchased the Dell Buick-Cadillac car dealership in Ossining.
The sale of the dealership, that has been in business since 1929 was finalized several weeks ago. The business is now known as Lou Pinella Motors Inc.
Pinella's partners are all from the Westchester County area. Ray De Benedictis, the former general manager of Dick Gidron Cadillac of the Bronx, has been named the president of Lou Pinella Motors. Ross Pepe, of New City, president of the Construction Industry Council, Michael Mendelson of Hastings-on-Hudson, Robert Malang of Peekskill and Dennis Pilotti of Cortlandt are all vice presidents of the dealership.
Malang and Mendelson operate an insurance business in Yonkers, while Pilotti, who is an accountant in Cortlandt, served as financial advisor for the Pinella group during the sales negotiations.
