COMPACT YET powerful, Panasonic's new KV-S2045C has emerged as the bargain in the low-volume production scanning segment With an affordable price of just $3,799, this duplex sheetfed scanner combines durability, speed, a long list of standard features and production-oriented options including an imprinter.
When it comes to production document imaging, bitonal scanning remains the standard, and for this purpose the 2045C captures 43 lettersized pages per minute (ppm) and 76 images per minute (ipm) at 200 dpi. Color speeds are 19 ppm/34 ipm at 150 dpi - not up to production standards, but more than adequate for the occasional demands that many foresee for color. And with a maximum optical resolution of 600 dpi, the scanner can capture fine detail for graphical applications.
Beyond its low price and solid speed, the 2045C also offers standard features including automatic cropping and deskew, which ensure straight, uniform images and can be applied to color as well as grayscale and bitonal scans. Dynamic thresholding automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast of bitonal images, improving readability, reducing the need for rescans and maximizing OCR success.
