Worldwide Computer Products News-29 November 2000-Lucent introduces ORiNOCO USB wireless device (C)1995-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com The US telecomms equipment maker Lucent Technologies has launched a USB wireless device for its ORiNOCO Internet access and wireless networking system. The new USB Client is designed to allow users to wirelessly network a desktop computer by simply plugging the device into a spare USB connector and installing the software. It also enables communication between desktop PCs and the entire range of ORiNOCO access points, including the RG1000 home/small office/home office residential gateway and the AP-500/AP-1000 access point base stations for large companies and campuses. The ORiNOCO USB Client for Windows 98/ME/2000 will be available towards the end of 1Q'2001 in two versions - Silver with 64-bit key WEP encryption and Gold with 128-bit key encryption.
