San Mateo, Calif. - Taiwan chip maker Macronix International Co. Ltd. will make a big push into the United States next year with plans for new sales offices, a larger sales and marketing force, and a new custom-chip design team, said the leader of the company's U.S. division.
"By putting more customer focus in the U.S., we should be able to see some excellent results," said Alan Portnoy, Macronix America Inc.'s new president. "It's an agile, profit-motivated management team that founded the company and is still there and has an entrepreneurial attitude."
Before coming to Macronix, Portnoy was executive vice president and chief operating officer of LG Semicon America Inc. and had served as a consultant for Macronix earlier this year. He replaces Macronix co-founder Ray Mak, who will now serve as vice president of Macronix...
