The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association has imposed a three-year suspension on their District 4 Director and Council Chairman Rick Rogow following a hearing and a unanimous vote in favor of the penalty Sept. 23.
Rogow, who recently filed suit against MAHA in Oakland County Circuit Court to obtain MAHA financial records, will have to serve three years of probation, too, if he comes back to the organization following his suspension.
Rogow called the suspension "excessive" and added he will file an appeal on the ruling that was made after a Sunday 10 a.m. hearing at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Brighton.
According to MAHA, it suspended Rogow for being inconsiderate and argumentative to the extent of being combatant, for shirking his duty of loyalty to MAHA for not substantiating any of his continued allegations of wrongdoing regarding the assets of MAHA and because he and the District 4 Council were not properly holding and documenting disciplinary hearings that are necessary due to match penalties being issued to players on teams registered in MAHA District 4.
"I will be appealing (the suspension)," Rogow said. "Extremely excessive ... I've been a volunteer for about six years. I may be sometimes rude and sometimes abusive. That's the way I am wired. Nobody has to like me.
