A surge in demand has Alaska engineering firms scouting for new employees. Numerous projects that require engineering expertise are under way statewide.
For instance, the Anchorage office of CH2M Hill is participating in projects that require water and wastewater engineers, said Kelly Merrill, Anchorage branch president for the American Society of Civil Engineers. He also works as Alaska transportation group manager for the firm.
"We're looking for people with a master's degree in wastewater treatment because there's such a booming market in the state," Merrill said. "We've been trying to hire (those)...
