Three months ago, Calgon Carbon Corp. named a new head coach.
And Jim Cederna has a Knute Rockne "Gipper" speech ready for any employee.
Diana Mollica, a Calgon Carbon customer service expert, said the optimism expressed by the company's new president and CEO has been infectious.
"I think he's given a lot of hope back to the company," she said. "He's very high energy."
Ms. Mollica, who has been with Anson Township-based Calgon -bon for 27 years, said workers had lost some fire.
"There was a lot of negativity," said. "People just didn't have drive that they seem to be getting back now."
Before taking the job here in April, Mr. Cederna was president Arizona Chemical of Panama city, Fla., a subsidiary of industry giant International Paper Co.
Mr. Cederna earlier spent 22 years in the management track at Dow Chemical Co., holding 11 is during his tenure. He became own as the "fix it guy," turning around foundering departments.
