TELECOMWORLDWIRE-2 July 2001-Maporama launches location-based online advertising tool (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http:// www.m2.com Maporama, a France-based provider of online mapping and geocentric information services, has introduced a new marketing tool for brand promotion directly from its street maps. Targeted specifically at Internet portals, the Maporama Brand Search Around tool can be used on a variety of Internet-enabled devices such as WAP phones and personal digital assistants. The tool will work whenever an Internet user asks for a map or itinerary through a Maporama-affiliated portal - the map or itinerary will include a choice of brands, represented by each advertiser's logo, located in the vicinity of the requested site. Maporama Brand Search Around is available immediately. The pricing model consists of a minimum annual location fee plus a variable fee corresponding to the number of advertisers to set up and list per customer.
