ShopKo expands DC space in Omaha
GREEN BAY, WIS. - ShopKo opened a new full-service distribution center in Omaha, Neb., on Feb. 19, 2001. The 394,000-sq.-ft. facility replaces ShopKo's existing 52,500-sq.-ft. distribution center. It is fully mechanized and features a state-of-the-art conveyor system, serves 35 stores in six states-with the capacity to serve 62 stores-and currently employs about 89 workers.
Shutterfly to manage Best Buy Photo Center
REDWOOD CITY, CALIF. - Best Buy Co. announced the selection of Shutterfly, a leading on-line photo service, to create, manage and market the retailer's new Online Photo Center. This Photo Center will provide Best Buy customers with a way to learn more about digital photography, and have a place to store, enhance and print their digital pictures. It will be tightly integrated with Best Buy's more than 400 retail locations through promotions and information provided in the stores. Customers will be able to access the Photo Center on line at photocenter.bestbuy.com, as well as from links within bestbuy.com, beginning Feb. 19 and in-store nationwide early this fall.
