If you've seen the word "Massport" in the news over the past few months, you're probably more likely to think of the word "beleaguered" for the state's airport and seaport authority rather than "forwardthinking."
But when airport officials around the country have called Massport offices recently, they haven't been asking about Logan runway expansions, the boat booze, and breasts scandal that removed executive director Peter Blute, or new chief executive Virginia Buckingham's baby.
They've been asking about the authority's website, www.massport.com. And they've been wondering how to emulate the site's design that includes up-to-the-minute flight and airport construction updates and databases for contractors to bid on authority projects.
"It's been a good feeling to get calls from people saying, 'Geez, that's a great site, how can we do something like it?"' said Tom Domenico, Massport's website administrator. 'We've raised the bar for air and seaports across the industry."
The site's co-designers, NetNumina Solutions of Boston and Raincastle Communications of Newton, won acclaim this month when the Massachusetts Interactive Media Council gave their Massport work three honors, including "Best of Show," at its annual award show for New...
