A Massachusetts company had the distinction of being at the head of the class as 1999's fastest growing educational software provider, based on sales figures tracked by PC Data.
PC Data is a Reston, Va., firm that monitors and ranks the sale of software around the country based on categories.
MathSoft Inc., a Cambridge-based software company, surpassed Encore and Havas, two well-known educational software makers, in December to rank second behind Mattel Interactive in high school math software for the month. It maintained its 11-month hold on the top place in high school science educational software, and third in high school mathematics software.
At the center of MathSofts success is StudyWorks!, a tutorial and interactive software package aimed at high school students with a penchant for math and science.
