Maxwell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:MXWL), San Diego, Calif., has reported that NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has independently verified the testing results and methodologies the company used to demonstrate the virtually error-free performance of Maxwell's SCS750 supercomputer for space.
According to Larry Longden, Maxwell's director of technology and marketing, the testing regimen simulated the harsh radiation environments electronic components encounter in space, including the effects of solar flares.
"Because Maxwell's computer uses standard commercial components protected by proprietary packaging techniques and a novel system- level fault-tolerant architecture to mitigate radiation effects instead of following the standard industry practice of using only radiation-hardened semiconductors, independent validation by a recognized authority such as JPL means a great deal," Longden said.
