Two years after bringing the Big Mac to downtown Boise, McDonald's has closed its 'urban' eatery in Capitol Terrace on Main Street, near Capitol Boulevard.
Treasure Valley McDonald's franchisee Darmody Enterprises Inc. closed the walk-in restaurant Dec. 30, citing poor sales. The 2,600square-foot eatery opened Dec. 27, 2000, employing 10.
Dick Darmody president of Darmody Enterprises, said last week that the downtown unit was not as profitable as hoped. Its employees have been relocated to other Treasure Valley McDonald's units, he said.
"That was a very tough decision to make," Darmody said of the closure. "We had great expectations for the site, as did McDonald's Corp. Why wasn't it successful? I wish...
