A national medical call center company has purchased Buffalo-based NightCall Physicians Services PC., an organization that offers an around-the-clock help line for Independent Health members.
IntelliCare Inc. of Maine has signed contract to acquire assets of NightCall in a sale that becomes effective Aug. 1.
NightCall, established in 1994, also provides 24-hour medical triage services to 55 private physician offices from Buffalo to the Hudson Valley.
More than a traditional answering service, NightCall offers medical information and advice and helps direct patients to an appropriate level of care, said Dr. Thomas Foels, president. Currently, the NightCall contact center handles more than 80,000 calls annually from patients.
