The importance of career technical education (CTE) in my community as well as across the nation should be communicated through broadcasting, business relationships as well as community celebrations and gatherings to honor students in CTE. To communicate the importance of CTE, I would start by contacting the local news channels to share the great things CTE is doing for our community, and how it has impacted so many students' lives and created many opportunities. Having an interview on television about CTE would be a great way to communicate to the public because they are watching the news regularly and keeping up with the current events. It can spread awareness of CTE and show the different organizations that are impacting so many lives.
Contacting local businesses and letting them know about CTE is a great way to gain support. DECA is sponsored by some big corporations across America, and I think that it would be a great idea to go into these corporations and talk with the managers about CTE and gain some support and advertising from these companies. Another example of how to gain awareness on the importance of CTE is a project that we recently did at my local CTE school. We worked with students from other CTE organizations in helping our local businesses get started. DECA students helped with the business side of things, while the SkillsUSA members worked on projects such as ad design, photography, graphics and imaging. It was a great way to get our name out to local businesses as well as a great learning experience.
Celebrating CTE in Tulsa would show the community the different accomplishments the CTE students have made. I think that it is a great way to show the honors and awards the students have earned as well as talking about the big projects that each organization within...
