MEK Group, headquartered in Mallabia, Spain, has invested $2.3 million in its new Van Wert operations. The company will focus on the machining of metal components for the automotive industry and will try to open businesses in other sectors such as the hydraulic and pneumatic sectors.
With its new operations, the company is planning to hire 2530 employees and acquire 12 Hydromat transfer machines over the next three years. The company's operations are housed in 23,000 square feet on Industrial Drive, renting space from Miller Precision.
MEK official Imanol Urrutia said, "This venture started when MEK Group personnel were in a machine auction and discovered equipment operators of a plant that was closed in Indiana. The operators were from the Van Wert area so they decided to start this new project with these skilled people."
