Louis George Bourgois, Jr., of Paducah, Ky., died 15 February 2015. In 1945, Bourgois was inducted into the U.S. Army Signal Corps and stationed at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He was honorably discharged in April 1946 at the rank of private first class. After his discharge, he attended the Central Radio and Television School in Kansas City, Mo., and later worked as a machinist apprentice at Paducah's Illinois Central Railroad shops. In April 1952, he was employed by Carbide and Carbon Chemicals Corporation (subsequently Union Carbide Corporation Nuclear Division) as an instrument mechanic apprentice and, in 1954, completed his journeyman training. He then worked for Martin Marietta Corporation for more than 34 years, retiring from the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in November 1986.
