25 years of diversity, innovation and leading by example
Merryman Barnes Architects Inc. (MBA) was founded 25 years ago as Portland's first women-owned architecture firm amid a field dominated by men. Nancy Merryman and Linda Barnes co-founded the firm, and Doug Benson joined as a principal in 2012 after working as a leader of MCM Architects.All three are members of the American Institute of Architects' Portland chapter and hold FAIA honors. The firm and its principals continue to lead by example in areas of diversity, innovation and volunteerism. MBA's first project set a precedent for the vision and values the firm would champion.
