WHAT'S HOT: We've tested many systems from Micro Express, but the MicroFlex 30A is the company's first desktop with AMD's 2.167-GHz Athlon XP 3000+ Barton processor to pass through our lab. (The Barton CPU has a 512KB Level 2 cache-double that of previous Athlon chips.) Paired with 512MB of DDR333 SDRAM, our review unit posted an impressive PC WorldBench 4 score of 131, placing it among the topperforming desktops we have tested to date. Its score is just 5 points behind the similarly configured Sys Technology Performance 3000+, our current speed champ.
This MicroFlex 30A also has multimedia chops--the 19-inch CTX SV900MD LCD monitor that arrived with our review unit posted high scores on our image-quality tests, displaying our photo with fine detail and accurate colors. Fonts of all sizes appeared sharp and focused across the entire panel. We also saw crisp color on games and in a high-action racing scene on a DVD movie.
