CHANDLER, ARIZ. - For memory-hungry applications, including those that require a complex user interface, Microchip Technology Inc. has launched a family of microcontrollers sporting up to 128 kbytes (1 Mbit) of flash memory. The PIC18F6720 and PIC18F8720 offer 128 kbytes of flash, while the PIC18F6620 and PIC 18F8620 pack 64 kbytes. All four also offer 1,024 bytes of E^sup 2^PROM memory for data storage, and at 40 MHz they can operate at up to 10 Mips.
The devices are socket-, software- and peripheral-compatible with other controllers in Microchip's PIC18 family, but product-marketing manager Cheri Keller said the new MCUs offer...
