Microsoft Corp. last week unveiled its long-awaited IBM host connectivity product, SNA Server for Windows NT, amidst a shower of complementary products launched by third-party vendors.
The new software, which resides on servers running the Windows NT operating system, is designed to give personal computer local-area network users access to IBM hosts via shared Systems Network Architecture links.
SNA Server supports several popular terminal-emulation products for Windows NT, as well as Windows, DOS, OS/2 and Apple Computer, Inc. Macintosh clients residing on Novell, Inc. NetWare, LAN Manager and Unixbased LANs.
Microsaft's announcement was backed by the release of Windows NT-based PC-to-host connectivity products fram a spate of third-party vendors, including Eicon Technology Corp., Netsoft and Wall Data, Inc.
