Chicago - Midcon Cables Co. is targeting the commercial sector as part of its plan to broaden the customer base for its patented flexible cable product line.
Until recently, Midcon's EverFlex cables were sold primarily to the military and aerospace markets. Now, the Joplin, Mo.-based company is expanding into the medical, robotics, and other markets to gain market share.
At present, the EverFlex cable products represent roughly 30% of Midcon's annual sales. The company expects those sales will increase to 50% of total revenue during the next three years, said president Charles Wheeler. The privately-held company would not divulge specific figures.
