James Mills, who has grown rich coinvesting with Tom Hicks - and running numerous Hicks-owned companies - said Feb. 6 that he ended his ties with Hicks' Dallas-based private equity firm, Hicks Muse Tate & Furst Inc.
Mills, 64, said in a phone conversation that he was going solo because it was time to make a change after a 16-year affiliation with Hicks. I'm not ready to retire, Mills said. I will be doing something. I'm exploring the options that are out there.
