What do IBM, Digital Equipment Corp, Hewlett-Packard and SunSoft have in common as they trek toward compliance with X/Open standards? Mortice Kern Systems Inc.
Better known by its initials, MKS provided Hewlett-Packard with a full implementation of Posix.2 for its proprietary MPVix operating system. For IBM, MKS implemented Posix.2 and internationalized XPG4 commands and utilities in MVS/Open Edition, licensed them Posix.2 and XPG4 code for VM, and licensed and partially ported Posix.2 for 05/400. For DEC, the company provided Posix.2 conformance for OpenVMS. And SunSoft got full Posix.2 conformance, and XPG4 commands and utilities, for Solaris.
