Mark Morris's book starts by delving deep into the historical roots of architectural models using some well-known examples such as Wren's huge model of St Paul's Cathedral and Sir John Soane's private collection. He then looks at the use of models in architectural education, in great depth. According to Morris there are two main and opposing schools of thought: the École Des Beaux-Arts preferring the use of perspective drawings, and Bauhaus which advocates extensive use of models.
