Thanks to a recent change in state law, Moraine Park Technical College is finally preparing to build an applied technology center for the school's West Bend campus.
College administrators say the proposed center would attract, train and retrain highskilled workers for jobs at Wisconsin manufacturers.
Local business leaders say the center would particularly help the tool-and-die industry and other local industries hit especially hard by the current labor shortage.

Moraine Park is based in Fond du Lac. The West Bend campus is the secondlargest of the three campuses that make up the college. The third is in Beaver Dam.

The idea for the center stemmed from the work force demands of manufacturers and industry trade associations, Shanahan said.
