Motorola has unveiled the industry's first iDEN/GSM world phone, which operates in overseas 900MHz GSM networks and in 800MHz iDEN networks in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and South America.
iDEN carrier Nextel is the first carrier to roll out the 12000 phone, which is available in all of its markets in the U.S.
The 12000 joins a growing number of phones promoted as world phones by Bosch, Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia, but those phones are dual- and triple-- band GSM-only phones.
