Though Peter Coggins has close to 30 years' corporate experience, the PerkinElmer executive might be called part of a new management class in the life sciences industry.
Unlike executives of a decade ago, who supervised go-go growth, Coggins has been brought to the Boston division of the international corporation to focus on trimming budgets and developing efficiencies.
"One of our corporate goals is to provide excellent service to our customers," said Coggins, a native of the United Kingdom. To do this we felt we had to integrate the operations of life sciences and analytical instruments.
"We've trimmed the workforce by cutting down on duplication and taking out a layer of management. We're making things simpler for those who use our goods and services."
