After suffering major damage from Hurricane Katrina, Mulate's - The Original Cajun Restaurant reopened Wednesday as Tee Mulate's, a smaller version of the long-time favorite. Tee Mulate's, formerly used only for private parties is located at 743 Convention Center Blvd. in the same building as Mulate's. Still serving authentic Cajun cuisine, Tee Mulate's will be open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday. Zydeco gumbo, catfish Mulate's, seafood platter, grilled shrimp, and homemade bread pudding with butter rum sauce are back. Tee Mulate's will feature live Cajun bands on Friday starting with La Touche Jan. 20. Jay Cormier will play Jan. 27 and Jonno Frishberg will play Feb. 3.The second edition of the Mulate's cookbook, Recipes from Mulate's - The Original Cajun Restaurant and other Family Favorites, will be released in February by Pelican Publishing in Gretna. The hardcover cookbook features 125 recipes and photographs of the Boutte family and featured dishes.Founded by Kerry Boutte in Breaux Bridge in 1980, Mulate's celebrated 15 years in New Orleans in 2005. Mulate's will reopen its 201 Julia St. location in April.-
