A compound derived from mushrooms may provide a new therapeutic option for treating human papillomavirus and curbing HPV-related cancers.
Researchers at the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School at Houston treated HPV-positive mice with active hexose correlated compound, or AHCC, a natural supplement produced from the shiitake mushroom family, and found that a once-daily treatment of the compound began to rid the mice of HPV after 30 days.
