Summary of the Book
My Brother's Flying Machine is written from the perspective of Katherine Wright, the younger sister of the now famous Orville and Wilbur Wright, as her brothers pursued their dreams of powered flight. Throughout the book, she described the toy flying machine she played with as a young child, the years her brothers spent building bicycles in their shop, and her brothers' attempts at constructing the first powered flying machine. It culminates with her first flight. The story details Katherine's life as she encouraged her brothers' dreams and helped care for their home while Orville and Wilbur worked to realize their dreams. The book also contains a number of author's notes that refer to printed and archival sources for the events and quotations found in the books.
