IRVINE, CALIF. - In-N-Out Burger chairman and president Esther L. Snyder, who co-founded the iconic West Coast drive-thru chain in 1948, died Aug. 4 at the age of 86, a statement from the Irvine-based company said.
The cause and place of her death were not immediately disclosed by the privately held company.
Snyder and her husband, Harry Snyder, opened the first In-N-Out Burger drive-thru in the Los Angeles suburb of Baldwin Park as a small stand with two drive-thru lanes and a walk-up window. Over the ensuing six decades the chain's never-varying focus on made-to-order burgers, fresh-cut fries...
