_: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered a massive sum of Rs25 billion of the public money drained into corruption during the execution of various projects in 2012. The Chairman NAB who made this disclosure last week in Islamabad claimed that it was the biggest recovery made by NAB in its history except the one backed by the military in the year 2009 during Pervez Musharraf's era. However, the pace of recovery was much swifter this time, he claimed.
Since its establishment, the NAB recovered Rs236 billion out of which Rsl80 billion were recovered during the one week of campaign launched against bank loan and tax defaulters during the tenure of the then chairman with the backing of armed forces. However, the recoveries during the preceding years remained negligible and got a momentum during the incumbent regime.
