Abstract
The Alliance will be Chaired by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. "Latinos are the fastest growing demographic in America, and as Mayors, it is our duty to work together to serve their needs," said Mayor Garcetti, who represents the city with the highest concentration of Latino residents in the country. "From issues of education, to economic development, sustainability to safety, Latino issues are America's issues. This new forum will help us ensure that Latinos are heard as we find innovative ways to address new challenges and bring lasting change to our cities."
"The U.S. Conference of Mayors prides itself on responding to the needs of its members," said USCM CEO & Executive Director Tom Cochran. "As the demographics of the U.S. population changes, we must do all we can to ensure our organization and its policies is a true reflection of those who live in our cities and their metropolitan areas. Our new Latino Alliance will include Latino Mayors and nonLatino Mayors who have a significant Latino population within their cities."
