ON Semiconductor chief executive Steve Hanson has approved a $75,000 donation to a scholastic fund that helps Native American students offset the cost of college, while at the same time securing culturally diverse interns for his high-tech company.
The Arizona Native Scholastic Enrichment and Resources program initially was created to provide Native American children in kindergarten through 12th grade with scholarships to private college preparatory schools.
But a miscommunication between ANSER founder Vernon Masayesva and a few corporate decision makers including Hanson - has brought about a change in the program.
For the first time in ANSER's six-year history, the program will offer college scholarships.
