In the space of a week the natural products industry was jolted from its winter hibernation by a quick succession of announcements:
Pfizer acquires Emergen-C maker Alacer on Feb. 27. The company produces nearly 500 million packets of Vitamin C-infused supplements every year.
General Mills buys snack chip favorite Food Should Taste Good on Feb. 29. It becomes part of GM's Small Planet Foods natural and organic products division.
Dole Food Co. acquires nut and snack company Mrs. May's Naturals on March 2. The company's products "fit perfectly" with Dole's growing Nutrition Plus product line.
