The Deal: The NetIQ Corporation has agreed to purchase its rival, Mission Critical Software, Inc., for $1.3 billion in stock. According to the terms of the transaction, NetIQ will pay 0.9413 of a share for each Mission Critical share. A new name and stock symbol will be chosen for the combined company. After the news of the acquisition was announced, NetIQ fell $5.50 a share, to $68, and Mission Critical fell 59.375 cents a share, to $61.656.
