TELECOMWORLDWIRE-18 January 2001-NetIQ and WebTrends sign merger agreement (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com The California-based e-business infrastructure management software provider NetIQ and the Oregon-based web analytics and e-business intelligence systems developer WebTrends have signed a definitive agreement to merge. Under the agreement WebTrends' shareholders will receive 0.48 shares of NetIQ's common stock for each WebTrends share they hold. The deal is worth approximately USD1bn and it is expected to close in late 1Q'2001 or early 2Q'2001. NetIQ's shareholders will own approximately 76% of the combined company, which will be called NetIQ, while WebTrends' shareholders will own the remainder. NetIQ and WebTrends hope that the merged company will become the leader in e-business infrastructure management and intelligence systems.
