Last week's announced merger plans of two key terminal-emulation vendors has narrowed the playing field in that specialized market.
NetManage Inc., Cupertino, Calif., said it was acquiring Irvine, Calif.-based NetSoft, giving the company a leg up in its competition with WRQ, Attachmate Corp., Microsoft and other vendors competing in the Unix and host connectivity space.
NetManage will pay $26 million in cash for NetSoft. Pending shareholder approval, the deal is expected to close next month.
