Netscape Communications Corp. based in Mountain View, Calif., and Visioneer Inc. of Palo Alto, Calif., struck an agreement to distribute Netscape Navigator client software bundled with Visioneer's PaperPort ix scanner keyboard, which will allow users to view paper-based documents on the World Wide Web via E-mail. The PaperPort viewer plug-in for Netscape was created with the Netscape Navigator Plug-in Application Programming Interface (API). Plug-in software programs extend the functionality of a product. In this case, the plug-in will allow message recipients to view PaperPort files inside of the Navigator's built-in E-mail capabilities. The technology will let users transmit paper-based documents to anywhere in the world without additional software. (Netscape, 415/937-3858; Visioneer, 415/842- 8328.)
