ATLANTA - The goal at the CNN Studio Tour here is to "create emotion and touch people."
Kimberly Hartley, director of the tour, said that news has played an important part in people's lives and that "everyone has been touched by a news event at one time or another."
The refurbished tour opened Nov 1 as part of a $26 million redo of the CNN Center, which is comprised of the Omni Hotel, a food court, two sit-down restaurants, and the new Philips Arena. Additional retail shops and restaurants are currently being developed.
The center brings in nearly three million people a year, and 350,000 took the tour in 1999. Tours are limited to 35 people per trip and cost $8 for adults. The longer VIP Tour, which has a maximum of 10 people, costs $25 for adults and has greater access into the working areas of the CNN Studios. ADA accessible tours are run three times a...
