Dan Snow's production company attempted to take the next step in the evolution of Periscope this week by live streaming from a drone at Stonehenge.
A three-man team from Ballista Media attached a GoPro camera to a drone and set out to 'scope' the sunrise over Stonehenge to the TV historian's 1.5 million social media followers. The broadcast, dubbed #Dronehenge, will be one of Ballista most ambitious, after Snow became an early adopter of Twitter-owned Periscope following its launch 10 months ago.
The team, which includes producer Dan Morelle and a drone pilot, will take advantage of the platform's new multi-camera functionality, which became available earlier this year. It means they can hand offbetween two cameras during the scope.
Speaking ahead of the broadcast, Morelle said the footage will alternate between Snow speaking directly to viewers using the front-facing camera on his iPhone 6S and video from a GoPro Hero4 mounted on either a DJI s-1000, or DJI Phantom 3 if it...
