Dong Wha Pharm.'s innovative liver-cancer therapy is likely to vault Korea's oldest drug company into global repute.
Dong Wha Pharm. Ind. Co., Korea's oldest pharmaceutical firm, has reached a breakthrough in cancer treatment and is about to merchandise the new medication for the first time in Korea.
The company is expected soon to release DW-166HC, an innovative treatment for liver cancer. It is designed for direct injection into a tumor, with minimal side effects and 86% effectiveness, according to company officials.
The 102-year-old pharmaceutical firm is better known among Koreans as the producer of Wha1 Myung Su, a digestive drink. The company is recorded in the Guinness Book of Korean Records as being the nation's first drug manufacturer, its first pharmaceutical company, holder of Korea's first trademark - its Bu-chae fan - and for the fact that Wha1 Myung Su is the country's longest running medicine.
Currently, the company is manufacturing nearly 400 products consisting of 160 non-prescription products, including Gas Wha1 Myung Su, Pancold-S, Alps, Fucidin and Lacteol. It also exports about 30 kinds of raw materials, including Trimethoprim, Ambroxol, Cefazolin and Amoxicillin, to the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Switzerland and many...
