Riverside Health System recently adopted an innovative approach to onboarding new employees on their first day of work. In July 2022, the Riverside WorkForce Development and Employee Engagement (WFD-EE) team developed and deployed a concept called the Riverside Systemwide Onboarding (SWO) Concierge service, neatly called the SWO Concierge. This service was designed to be a customer value-added by using SWO coaches paired individually with each new employee via a virtual process. The new employee is given an online meeting link and a specific report time, the employee logs in and is greeted by a main lobby guide. The guide then assigns the new employee to meet with a coach in a separate breakout room. This coach ensures the employee has their network login and password set as well as access to the learning management system. Simultaneously, while the employees are waiting in the main lobby, the guide provides a brief system overview and shares video experiences of various team members working at their job across the health system. This includes clinical, support, service, and administrative experiences that underline the numerous capabilities of the organization. To date, we have conducted 11 SWO Concierge events with tremendous feedback from the new employees reinforcing the value-added experience.
