Debbie Brooks
Appearing in its first Atlanta market is Debbie Brooks, a handbag line being worn on the arms of such celebrities as Britney Spears, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz. This two-year-old Gardner, N.Y.-based line already boasts over 350 styles and offers "a bag for every personality," according to designer Debbie Brooks.
The vivid and eye-catching designs have grabbed national attention. Brooks' Signature Edition features fun and feminine animated scenes, while her Floral and Gem collection concentrates on flower motifs accented with rhinestones. "Our new line reflects contemporary concepts," Brooks said. "There is a lot of texture. We have crocodile skin, snake skin and some furry bags."
In keeping with her previous lines, the bags are not targeted at a specific demographic. "We have everyone from 16-year-old girls to 75-year-old women wearing these bags," Brooks said.
Wholesale prices begin at $65 and run up to $350 for a special commission. The bags can be found at specialty boutiques and better accessories retailers throughout the Southeast. Wholesale volume projections for 2004 were not available.

New colors include pastel peach, canary yellow and violet. Also new for spring are pajama styles that feature double-striped ribbon and bows on the cuffs.
Popular styles among buyers include Bed of Roses, a yellow pajama set embroidered with roses and trailing stems on the pocket and cuffs. Another bestseller is Fly Away, a sky blue set embroidered with blue and beige dragonflies.
Wholesale prices for the line start at $16 for unisex boxers and go up to $85 for robes. Pajama sets wholesale from $58 to $74.
After 18 months in business, Threadcountzzz has 50 better specialty boutique and specialty store accounts, including Intimacy in Atlanta and Gattle's stores throughout the country. Volume for 2004 is expected to exceed $500,000, according to Evans.
