Open Horizon Inc. announced last week middleware that lets client applications built using ODBC-compliant environments, such as Visual Basic, Delphi and PowerBuilder, link with applications built with object-oriented development environments, such as Forte and Dynasty.
The enabling software for this communication is a piece of message-oriented middleware called the Connection Application Broker which is an add-on module to the Belmont, Calif.-based middleware vendor's Connection enterprise database-connectivity product.
Traditionally, PC applications created using Visual Basic, PowerBuilder and Delphi have existed on separate islands of computing from object-oriented corporate applications, such as those built using Forte and Dynasty.
