RICHMOND, Va.- Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has undertaken a $10 million capital project to develop The VCU 21st Century News Center. The center will be the only program in the United States to train both masters students and professional journalists for multiple media practice, says Joyce Wise Dodd, the center's director.
A public, urban university with an enrollment of 22,700 in 1998, VCU already has an accredited school of mass communications. With the independent news center, VCU hopes to provide the most cutting-edge journalism education program in the United States and a worldwide model for the industry.
