The new owner of WorkPlace Integrators, Michigan's largest Steelcase office-furniture dealer, said customers can expect a more business-oriented approach to their needs than before, and that will include more than office furniture sales.
Robert Holland Jr., a specialist in transitional businesses, took majority control of Bingham Farms-based WorkPlace Integrators in December after a stint as CEO of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc. It immediately rose from the ashes of Southfield-based Contract Interiors Inc., which collapsed upon losing the furniture line from Steelcase (see story on this page).
The company expects revenue for the quarter that ended April 30 to be $20 million to $25 million.
"I'm not going to be focused so much on immediate revenues," Holland said. "Being successful in the short term allows you to establish the long term."
WorkPlace Integrators counts local companies Kelly Services Inc. and Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone P.L.C. among its 1,000 or so customers. But WorkPlace Integrators lost some clients in the transition,...
